Can back/sciatica pain make you feel sick to your stomach?
« on: February 01, 2013, 09:38:38 AM »
Hi All....

So I think I injured my back (again), but this time it is pretty bad nerve pain.  Can this cause me to feel like throwing up?

I'm trying to just talk myself down from the "spinal tumor" thoughts....

Thanks.

sciatica pain is a nerve that provides for the legs/buttocks.  It isn't a nerve that would do anything about the stomach.  However some peeps pain can give people upsest stomachs and nauseous just by itself.

I do have sciatica issues but never had any vomiting feelings, just a lot of leg pain.

I don't, however, mean to leave you with the idea---on any level---that you should be thinking about spinal tumors

MOST anxiety occurs on a subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state

Yeah, I do have some leg pain, shooting pain.  I wonder if it is just the pain making me feel sick.  I also wonder if the back pain is too high up to be sciatica.

Hm.

sciatica starts in the lower back.

without going into it too much,   :winking0008: the nerve that provides for ab organs and such---vagus nerve.  has a hand in things like digestion etc.  longest nerve in the body

Hmmmm.  The back pain is in a very specific spot, mid-lower back, but not Lower back.    So if this is nerve pain, you think that it could cause digestive issues?

Thanks for your insight.

personally, no I don't.

I think your stomach upset is due to your anxious thinking.  OR maybe a stomach bug.

I do NOT think you have a tumor anywhere.

Severe pain in general can cause nausea and vomiting.  I doubt it's a tumor.

Worrying and stress can cause you to have a nausea feeling.
