Knee randomly giving out
« on: October 11, 2009, 10:33:38 AM »
Hi, I was so tempted to google this but I think posting here is safer. My knee randomly just gives out sometimes. Like, I'll be cleaning in the kitchen and go to take a step and it just... sort of doesn't catch, if that makes sense, and I end up with a bent knee. I don't fall over, my leg holds my weight, my knee just doesn't lock. It doesn't happen to the right one, that I can think of. Is this a sign of anything worrisome?  :(

that happens to me, and probably most folks.

It will happen with me a bunch of times.  For instance I'll notice it happen a bunch in a month's time, then not at all for 6months....

Don't think it means much at all in the grand scheme of things....

MOST anxiety happens at the subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state.

Hello,

I have had this happen as well on occasion. I also had a time where my ankle would totally give out on me and I'd end up spraining it... you can imagine how fun that was. There was a period of a few months where I could barely walk. Turns out that I had some misalignments in my knees, which is all tickety-boo now with orthotics.

If this is happening to you a lot, it might be worth getting checked out as it could be a very simple fix.
