Internal shaking/vibrating
« on: July 28, 2009, 08:24:08 PM »
Has anyone experienced this....where you're not physical shaking but inside it feels like vibrating/shaking?  I've been getting this sensation for the past week in various parts of my body.  Sometimes when I lay down it feels like my head is shaking off my body or when I walk my legs feel like jelly.  Is this a normal part of anxiety?  I'm trying my best not to run to a doctor because I just had a physical 2 months ago that was normal.  I do suffer from chronic sinusitis (just diagnosed a few weeks ago).  Should I be concerned? Does this warrant a trip to the ER/doctor?  My anxiety has been on full blast for the past week and I feel like I'm about to lose it.  I hate feeling like this  :traurig001:

MOST anxiety occurs on a subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state

I get this ALOT, especially when I have stayed up a long time working on school work or an "all-nighter"..

My entire limbs will vibrate sometimes, or the back of my neck, chest, and head will shake and vibrate and Im only 23....Of course i worried it was something terrible, but realized it was by muscles overly tired or me being stressed out

DONT WORRY ABOUT!!  :laugh3:

:laugh3: :laugh3: you have nothing to worry about .. I used to get these when I was coming of the benzos, I would go to sleep and wake up with my legs internally shaking and it lasted about a week then it went away. It felt weird because my legs would shake yet I couldn't feel my leg shaking if i put my hand on it.

Yes, but normally only after I've been drinking the night before! It's 'cos I wake up early because I'm dehydrated and my body is still dealing with the stresses of the day before- I think it is a normal part of ones body de-stressing physically during sleep or relaxation.

Yes, I get this too and it affects mostly my upper body....When I feel like that I tend to get more anxious.
I get it worse when I try to lower my SSRI.

Yes! Please know that this is a symptom of anxiety. It can be worrisome and uncomfortable but I know EXACTLY what you mean by "internal shaking"

I have this internally and sometimes externally when my anxiety is very bad.

Yep, I get this! I just had it a few weeks ago. I felt like I was shaking or shivering for several hours. My husband touched me and didn't feel anything, so I realized it was all internal. We were moving across country, so I was far from any comfort zone. I think it is extreme anxiety that causes the internal shaking.  ::)

For a good few weeks it felt like my legs were vibrating, along with my torso, whenever I laid down. The first time it happened I was so freaked out, I thought well maybe it's my fan making the bed vibrate, or because I live near a railroad that a train was coming, so I could really feel the shaking. But I wasn't shaking at all, it was this bizarre internal trembling feeling. What a disgusting feeling. It's gone away after awhile and I stopped thinking about it. Sometimes if I wake up suddenly I'll get the trembling feeling in my chest and neck.. but once I realized it was anxiety and stressed muscles, it helped to relax me and ride it through, and it goes away quickly.
