Someone help! Advice needed
« on: September 05, 2014, 12:57:05 PM »
Ok, I had numbness in my hands and fingers a year or so ago, had a nerve test done and saw a specialist, she sai I had sensitive nerves and when I press on them it causes the numbness. Recently I have had periodic numbness in my arms, hands and fingers. Could this be anxiety? I don't want to keep going back to the dr. I'm so afraid of MS.
Anyone experience this?

Hi,  :action-smiley-065:

I looked at some of your post, especially your initial posts.

It appears you have severe anxiety, and especially HA OCD anxiety, is this accurate?

Are you currently taking any medications prescribed by your doctor?

Back to answering your question - IMO:  Yes!  It can very likely be Anxiety.

Severe Anxiety, Panic attacks, OCD in most patients trigger what is called a  "Chronic Hyperventilation Syndrome" or "Chronic HVS" - which goes mostly undiagnosed by most doctors.  I had for years, without ever knowing it.

IME: These consistent panic attacks and anxiety attacks had caused my breathing pattern to subconsciously change "without me even noticing it." -  (causing what is now called Chronic HVS) - that constantly and slowly depletes your blood of carbon dioxide, causing the oxygen levels in your blood to drop, this terrible breathing habit (many times it is an unconscious habit your anxiety has learned) leaves little free oxygen available for your body's systems and organs.

This low level of oxygen, will then produce seemingly unrelated symptoms in all areas of your body (your brain, your stomach, your muscles, since  they're all getting slightly deprived of oxygen. As a result, you start having seemingly unrelated symptoms in all different areas of the body.

See this post for more information:

Print the information out - circle the symptoms that you currently have and make an appointment with your doctor to be diagnosed.

As you will notice, this anxiety condition - among many others also produces the following symptoms:
- cold, tingling, or numb lips or extremities,
- aching muscles or joints, or tremors

IMO - Yes, this sounds, look and acts - exactly like anxiety - again, take this information and have your doctor professionally diagnose the problem.

Hope this helps  :action-smiley-065:

Thank you for this great post.
How long do you typically wait till you go to the dr about your symptoms?

The sooner the better!  Make sure to point out  chronic HVS as your main concern and ask the doctor's professional opinion on the best way to diagnose and if any meds help in treating it.
