Current fear of poison. I'm having a panic attack!
« on: September 01, 2014, 07:16:25 PM »
I can't calm down.
I got a fear in me that I someone wanted to poison me with cyanide.
I drank this brand new ice tea I bought but it was in the house with my guests all day and they drank it was fine, now when I took a sip it tasted horrible.
I don't know why I got scared that someone put poison in it, like cyanide.
I'm so sorry I can't stop shaking and I have the need to vomit.
It's been 20 minutes since, I guess something would have happened if it was cyanide???

Why in God's name would someone you know try to poison you?

I don't know!
Maybe someone hates me from them and I don't know about it.
I don't think I have rational thoughts at this moment

maria- if you have no rational thoughts, what do you want us to tell you?  what could we possibly say to cut through a thinking process that is, honestly, pretty much driven by paranoia?

this is an honest question and not meant as being flippant.   because, honey,  I am just shocked

MOST anxiety occurs on a subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state

I sometimes get this fear and paranoia that someone wants to poison me or wants me dead.
And I get so scared instantly, like from diseases I feel somewhat calm compared to this.
I felt like someone wants me dead and there is no one that can do anything to save me.

you DO realize this only a product of serious thinking disorder, right.  there is nothing reasonable about this fear?

I have to say your state of mind is worrisome to me.  Are you working with a therapist?

Yes I am and I was working with a therapist for a year and a half already.
And I'm usually fine, like most of the time.
Sometimes I just have these random anxiety attacks that I can't explain, and there is literally nothing I can do to stop them.

Maria, did you happen to see the news story on TV or story on the internet about the lady who was at Sunday lunch with her husband, took a sip of sweet tea and it tasted funny so she spit it out????????   She's going to live and thankfully she didn't swallow the tea but I'll bet you saw that headline and don't even remember it.

For those who didn't see it,  someone in a restaurant had a small amount of sugar left in a container and so poured it into another container of white stuff then immediately realized they'd mixed the sugar in with a caustic cleanser for the stove top.  They put it in the manager's office and somehow it got put back out in the kitchen and was used for that days tea.  This ONE woman was the first person to drink tea that day and only person injured.  It burned her mouth and espophagus but since she didn't swallow it, she is going to be perfectly fine.

I had some sweet tea out the other day and my first sip made me stop and think........
