An Intro
« on: August 16, 2014, 06:04:59 PM »
I'm a survivor. A survivor of two heart attacks, bypass surgery and most recently coronary stents and stage IV head and neck cancer. I don't suffer from any debilitating mental issues but I have battled some depression (which is understandable) and a bit of what I call "scanxiety" come check up time with my cancer team.  I do take a "chill pill" when needed and have used CBT techniques quite effectively.

What led me here was a post on the cancer forum I frequent. There have been and still are many that joining the forum convinced they have cancer when obviously they don't. Thus came an interest in anxiety disorders and HA specifically. Posts directly from this site and a current member brought me here. I joined a site in the UK and have participated there quite a bit. In fact, I've seen many of the same posters on this site. If I can offer a bit of rationality to what is a very irrational illness I will do so, especially concerning node/cancer fears and heart issues.

Welcome to the forum. Good to have you as a member. Here you are with like minded people. People who understand. As we all suffer from something or other. So feel free to ask any questions. Our members are always willing to help others out. Good chatroom too. 3 posts to enter the room.

Find the correct section of the forum that suits your condition and create a new topic on it. This is just a welcome section. Never really get the same amount of help in this section as you would on the other sections of the forums. So whatever one suits the questions you are asking. Get much better answers.
All users of the chatroom must be 18 years old or over. The room is off limits to anybody under the age of 18.

Thanks for the welcome.

I'll add that my youngest child (21) suffers from anxiety and depression. She had to leave school due to it. Her Mom and I made sure she got the help she needed and have her back always. She is currently in therapy and on meds and has improved dramatically. She's going back to school this Fall part-time to finish her education.

Those suffering, there is a way back from what at times seems like an abyss. You can heal!
