question for the ladies.....serious
« on: August 16, 2014, 12:55:38 PM »
i am 31 years old. i got my period when i was 12 years old. i have NEVER been regular. and when i say that, i mean i would go MONTHS in between periods. i have once gone 14-15 months without one - getting told by my doctors in the past that unfortunately, this was my "regular"....

i have now had four periods in a row like clockwork. i legit mean that i can literally set my clock and calender to when my period will come. i have a period tracking app that was spot on the past few months. i know this might sound weird to some, but this is actually concerning me that after so long - i am now......normal? LOL

anyone else experience this? i am not talking about maybe skipping a period or two. i am talking about sometimes going six months without one

I started at 13 and was very irregular until my late twenties. Once I had my daughter at thirty, I've been like clockwork. If you are having normal periods otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it.  Maybe as you have gotten older, you are producing a little more estrogen and that is regulating your cycle better. I really wouldn't worry about it.

Are you on the pill?  This will regulate your periods for sure.

Perhaps have your doctor test your hormones.

i am scared to go to the doctor. i guess i am more reassurance seeking than anything else. silly me, i know. sort of reaching out to see if anyone else has been through what i am going through right now - where, for so many years, i am irregular and then out of the blue? BAM, you can set your clock to it. haha.

i do appreciate all of the kind words from each of you. it means a lot to know that folks are till on the forums, willing to help. :)

same as me.

I agree with alaskamom here.

you are doing what your body is supposed to be doing.  the missing 14-15 months was when your hormones were not working optimally

MOST anxiety occurs on a subconscious level.  JUST because you don't feel consciously anxious or had a day or two of calm doesn't mean your mind & body are relaxed.  It can take months of reduced anxiety before a body goes back to a more non-reactive state

I had a similar experience. I could go a year or more without a period. I'm 42 now and regular, but this happened to me after my first pregnancy.

Personally, i wouldn't be alarmed. Yourbody is working properly. Sinister diseases don't usually cause that!

thank you guys, again, for the kind words. maybe i worded it incorrectly here.

i guess i am not too worried about it - just weird, if that makes sense. i am glad my good ole uterus is in working order [LOL] but at the same time, i'm over here all like: "why now?"

i hope that makes sense. hehe
