Do clothes dryers give off radiation?
« on: July 09, 2014, 06:15:14 PM »
I stuck my head into a dryer while it was midway done. Paranoid that this may have caused some radiation to somehow get into my head. Is it possible that this somehow damaged my brain? Please don't start with the therapy bs.

To my knowledge there isn't a single household apparatus in existence which is capable of emitting ionizing radiation. I assume that's the type of radiation you are reffering to in your post.

You'll get more ionizing radiation from being exposed to sunlight.

Sorry but if you dismiss "that therapy BS" then you'll never get beyond stuff like this.

Yeah...electric dryers have been around for...what...60 yrs now?!?!?

They give off HEAT.
NOT "radiation".
You simply CANNOT get injured from a dryer!
(well...unless it falls on you... )

And yes...sunlight does more damage!

Well, I am sure they do not emit nearly as much radiation that could get you hurt, so, to answer simply : No !

If they did they wouldn't be allow to sell them. There are such things as safety standards. Think of x-rays in a hospital. Some people fear the radiation from them. More in them than a clothes dryer. But an x-ray is still safe. Or else they wouldn't be allowed do them.
