FEMALES - anyone else?
« on: June 30, 2014, 11:37:58 PM »
so.... i have a boil [i think] under my right breast.

has anyone else ever had these?

i put a hot hot HOT compress on it several times in a half hour and it.....popped [?] and i put a bandaid on it as well as washed it and put rubbing alcohol. of course, i did what i'm NOT supposed to do, and googled home remedies. under one of the comments on a specific forum, a lady said something about how she got a staph infection from one.

here come the irrational thoughts.

anyone?

I don't really know anything about boils and I'm scared to google it. It sounds like you washed it pretty good so I wouldn't worry to much. I would let it breathe before putting a band-aid on it though. Can you walk around shirtless or at least in a loose fitting shirt?

I'm sorry I'm not much help.

Boils are staph...but do not worry. Boils are extremely common.

I've had plenty of them years ago, when my allergies were really bad. I used to get them behind my knee constantly.

Doctor always told me hot compresses until it bursts.

Sounds like you did all the right things. Hot compress and you cleaned it well. You'll be fine.

You did everything right.  As scary as they make it sound, MRSA is not that bad.  My daughter had an abscess on her leg that turned out to be MRSA and they didn't even treat it.  Since they lanced it in the office, she was good to go.  We followed up with swabbing her nose with bacterium since that's where the bacteria colonizes.  I really and truly freaked out when the cultures came back but it really was no big deal.

Boils are staph.

Sorry my reply upset you. Like I said, I've had many boils behind my knee...I'm fine.

You did everything right: hot compress, cleaned and covered. Do not worry and do not allow irrational thinking get the best of you. If you feel nervous, see a doctor for peace of mind.

I've had one coming and going for the last year.  Every time it seems to be properly healing it gets re-infected.  Nasty business.  I've had others try to pop up as well but antibiotic cream takes care of it.

Prior to this, I used to get them nonstop as a teenager/early 20s - eventually they just stopped.  No harm done.
