Inpatient stays
« on: June 23, 2014, 11:36:42 AM »
Hello,  I'm new here and glad I have found this resource.  I'm in a real downward spiral with my health anxiety right now.  I think about committing myself to inpatient behavioral treatment daily.  It seems like it would be reassuring to stay somewhere where you can be constantly monitored.  I know that sounds crazy and there's no way you could live there, plus that would be a terrible life anyhow.  Has anyone else ever had these thoughts?

It could help to try it for a week.  The daily therapy might be useful.  Have any of you ever had an inpatient stay?  If so, was it helpful?

Thanks for your responses and support.

I've had an inpatient stay, but not for HA.  It was horrible - granted I'm told it's very unlike most other peoples' experiences, which are largely positive.  But I'll never be doing that again.

I'm interested too.  I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who has had a positive experience.  Sorry yours was negative.   :(

I'm feeling desperate.

TBH the hospital was just kind of a holding pen for nutcases.  I think I saw a therapist once while I was there.  Most of the time we just milled around killing time.  Completely pointless.
