Anxiety and not enough sleep
« on: June 19, 2014, 01:00:43 PM »
Is it just me, or does a lack of sleep REALLY bring on the anxiety?

I've had some really late nights this week, and it finally hit me when I woke up today -- heart palpitations that just kept coming.  :( Took a Xanax, which i haven't needed in a while...

If I graphed out my panic attack days, probably 90% would fall on days when I didn't get enough sleep.

It's not just you. Insomnia makes it way worse for most people. Not for me, ive been an insomniac all my life so nothings really changed. But for most people, yeah it seems to cause a worsening of symptoms, sometimes severely.

And of course, the anxiety makes it hard to sleep, another wonderful positive feedback loop.

Hisway, I do think sleeplessness can bring on anxiety in me.  I noticed feeling
more shy after a sleepless weekend, more vulnerable.

I'm going to do an experiment where I FORCE myself to get 8 hours sleep each night
(might need sleeping pills) -- just to see for one week what different it might make.

Anyone else want to try with me?

Yes I notice a great difference in me when I don't get enough sleep. I try to always aim for at least 7-8 hrs per night.

It does make a difference.
