I can't stomach proper food :|

One of the main symptoms of my anxiety is loss of appetite, and it's one of the biggest problems with my anxiety. I'd get random bursts of appetite and I'd eat a little but, my stomach would get sick and stop maybe 3 minutes into a meal and I couldn't eat anymore. My former psychiatrist was worried about it as I'd lost over 10 lbs the previous year due to it.

When she put me on the Prozac I got my appetite back and I started eating normally again. However, since I turned 18 I'd not been able to see a specialist because my previous one was under pediatrics. I finished my last prescription of Prozac probably around last September, and I was fine for a good number of amounts but now my anxiety has doubled and returned and my parents and I are trying to find a psychiatrist.

And of course, my loss of appetite has returned and it's a struggle because my stomach is constantly sick and I haven't eaten very properly at all for a couple months now. I haven't lost any weight to my knowledge but of course I've been feeling pretty weak. Previously, I was able to eat properly (usually meat, veggies, and rice) when I'd gain my appetite for a little bit.

But now I literally cannot eat anything, even when I feel hungry. The only thing I've been eating are little pieces of candy like Jolly Ranchers an Dum-Dum lollipops and cookies once in a while. I know it's terribly unhealthy but they're the only things I can actually eat and put in my stomach and not get sick. Once in a while I'll be able to tolerate a little meat, maybe a piece of deli meat or a chicken wing, but I struggle getting through the whole thing. Yesterday I had one of those frozen chicken tenders and heated it up just to eat something, but I couldn't finish a piece. My dad tried to help, the other day he bought crabs since I love seafood but I could barely eat them.

Is there anyway I can try to work up an appetite? I watch the Food channel a lot, but it doesn't seem to help. :|

Anxiety makes me lose my appetite too but not nearly to the degree that you've described. If eating makes you nauseous or your stomach generally not feel good then I suggest trying BRAT foods like people do when they're sick and their stomach is upset. That's Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast. These foods are all very mild and gentle on the stomach since they're easy to digest. Ginger is also great if eating makes you feel nauseous. You can drink it in a tea, take supplements of it, or just eat it fresh before you try to eat something else. Something that really helps for me is to eat a little bit many times through the day instead of trying to have one big meal all at once since feeling full makes me feel anxious and sick.

I hope you can find some food soon that's easier for you to eat.
