Hi all,

I would just like to find comfort in the fact that I am not alone in suffering from GI issues since God knows when.

From February to March this year, I felt some gnawing hunger in my tummy after a few hours I ate, belching, and bloating from time to time. I was put on Prilosec for a month which improved my condition, but it didn't go away immediately.

Docs said it could be gastritis. Had an option to go for an endoscopy, but I backed out because my condition improved afterwards. I had this problem 3 years ago and was gone with Prilosec for two weeks.

From April to May, my condition improved greatly.

Fast forward to the last week of May, my GI issues are back but they are not as worse as before.

Right now Iget excessive belching and bloating right now but this is occasional.

I am only 23 years old and I feel that this is like a sign that I will get the big C in the near future. :(

Has anybody here suffered from symptoms like these for a long time but turned out to be benign at the end? :(

I first developed random out-of-nowhere nausea that left me unable to leave bed when I was 9.  Eventually I was diagnosed with gastritis.  It went away with a ton of antacids and time, but in my later teens and on I went back to having the fussiest stomach of all time.  It only gets worse as I get older.  I have very similar stomach issues to my mom, aunt, cousins and grandmother, so I guess it runs in the family, and anxiety greatly exacerbates them.

I get similar symptoms to you and have had a total of 7-8 EGD's. The diagnosis is
mild gastritis. I would not be afraid of an EGD, as they are a piece of cake with no
prep and I have never had any side effects.

I second the EGD. I had one in April. It was a breeze.

Thank you for all the replies.

I am planning to have an endo if this does not go away by the end of the month.

Sorry, but the fact that you are suggesting to have an endo actually scares me more. Makes me think something is seriously wrong :(

Ugh, 1 of my colleagues at work died last week because of gastro-related C. She was only 40 :( Now I feel like this is like a sign. :(

That sounds like gastritis or h pylori bacteria, i had it and
Still suffering with bad gastro issues. I was 29 when I had the endo and found out that h pylori was to blame.

Ive had gastro issues for since I was around 20yrs old. A lot of it was due to my home life of my dad being an alcoholic and yelling all the time. I went for a colinoscopy at the age of 25...upper gi...lower gi.....pretty much all within a year. everything came back ok, just had to watch whatI ate. reflux came back heavy around 2yrs ago...was on Prilosec for a whole year..worked well...went for an Endoscopy and doc said he saw some minor inflamation at the bottom of my esophagus. Last nite I had a really bad episode and my stomach felt like a pool of acid...it kept me up all night long!! I think a LOT of it had to do with daily stress

Hi rdtect,

Thank you for the reply. I am sorry you had to go through that but I am happy that the tests turned out okay.

It somehow gives me hope.

Do you guys get bloated and LOTS of burping too?

I have had stomach issues since I was 23 when I had emergency surgery for a perforated duedonal ulcer caused probably from stress.  Horrible experience.  I've had EGDs almost every 3 or 4 years since, just to make sure all is okay (and probably so the dr. can make some money.)  And a lot of those I initiated since my stomach just didn't "feel right" for me.  I'm now 56 with no problems from the EGDs.  I have had and sometimes still do have everything you mentioned, but nothing has led to anything horrible.  I've been on Nexium forever and take a probiotic everyday just to keep the tummy rumbles down.  I have cherry chewable tums (almost like gum) for any breakthrough indigestion.  Anxiety will play havoc with your stomach.  I do deep breathing exercises and meditation to calm my tummy when it's acting up.  My most recent EGD was a year ago, and this time the dr. said not to come back for 5 years.

I forgot to add, that if you are having stomach problems, try ginger.  I use ginger chews which are really good and you don't have to worry about the chemical effects of medicine.
