Sugar withdrawal symptoms
« on: June 10, 2014, 04:19:48 PM »
Hi folks,
Can cutting out sugar really cause withdrawal symptoms? I only cut it out 2 days ago, and I have a headache and I feel tired. I also feel quite grumpy.
Maybe this isn't a HA post. But what do you guys think?

Lol YES!!!

And if you cut it off and suddenly start back it also causes disruption. Atleast for me it did :)

Please keep going on this!!!

You will be amazed at how much better you will feel once you get sugar and artificial sweeteners out of your life!!!   :happy0151:

When you are cutting out sugar, you mean like white refinded sugar right? Or do you mean anything with sugar in it? Theres lots of things that have sugar including fruits and white bread.

Thanks for the responses and support.
I have cut out all sugars from "junk food", sweets, chocolate, cake, biscuits, crisps etc.
I am still eating white bread, pastas etc, but I don't eat much anyway.
I have a very sweet tooth and would eat a lot of junk food so this will be a challenge but I really want to succeed. I know it takes about a month to ditch a habit and create a new one. I will then try to cut out other " hidden" sugar foods.
I woke up with the headache this morning again, iv had it for almost 24 hours now. Its time for a pain killer!

LEt me know if you need tips, recipes etc. I dont eat wheat and refined sugar and trust me, once you look for it you will find that ex sugar is on many foods you wouldnt think. Like ketchup, chicken stock, etc

I dont know if they sell them in your area but keep on the lookout for "Joseph's Lavash Bread" its made with flax seeds, oat bran and whole wheat.  Very high in fiber and very low in carbs.  Delicious!

White bread and pasta have to go - just sugar in another form!!!

Headache still here! Kinda getting worried at this stage. I took painkillers this morning and they didn't really work.
What bread is good? Is brown OK? Wholemeal? Wholegrain? Wholegrain pasta?
Thanks

Don't be worried!  I know it's sucky but it's a normal part of withdrawal.  Just push through and it'll be worth it!
