Best meds to help with HA
« on: June 03, 2014, 06:31:51 AM »
Hi all,

So I have tried Citalopram which made my palps really terrible and have since been told this isn't advisable in someone with palps and I have also tried SJW which gave me reflux.

Can anyone advise anything I can take to help relieve my anxiety symptoms accompanied with depression?

I have tried CBT which didn't help either. I feel like there is a switch in my head and I can't turn it off!

Any advice much appreciated! Including side effects etc etc!

I can totally relate to you. I feel nervous all the time. There are times that I feel my anxious feeling has to do with something being physically being wrong with me instead of psychological because I really have no control over it. Having said that I have been taking Cipralex for 5 weeks and I really haven't seen an improvement, so I am thinking of weaning myself off of it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, just know you are't alone.

Nothing completely removed my HA like Valium. Like, gone. Only lasts a few hours, but if I'm in a crisis that's usually where I'll turn. Unfortunately, it's very hard to get a hold of and it's addictive if you're not careful. Not that I'd advise it, but alcohol also works for me.

I'm there with ya.    Actually, I've been on Cymbalta for several months.  This seems to help, but as of late, I think my dose needs to go up (seeing prescriber today).  CBT is a slow process.  Which makes it frustrating.  I think if you get on the best med for you it'll help.  There's a lot of trial and error in the med world and it takes time, too, something that is really precious when you're miserable.  Every day can seem like a year.  Be patient yet persistent in getting the help you need.  I'd do anything if results could happen overnight for all of us.

Thank you to all of you who replied. It's nice to know I am not alone.

I hoped it was just a blip when I started to feel funny but it seems it's taking control of me and I really didn't want to get like this.

What is Cymbalta Sleepingbear and does it have side effects?

People would think from the outside I am fine but I don't think they know what it's like to be consumed 24/7 with the thought that something bad is about to happen!!!

SSRIs are so individual, IMO.  I take Celexa and love it but I can't take it's sister drug, Lexapro and I can't tolerate Paxil.  Definitely try another one, there are several out there.  You just need to find the one that works best with your body chemistry.

I know what you mean about that switch, I hated being consumed with it.  Hated it.
