Really worried about water in ear.
« on: June 02, 2014, 09:47:11 PM »
So earlier today I got a drop of rain water in my ear so I grabbed a QTip from inside and put it in my ear to help dry it out. Now about 20 mins later I put a couple drops of Rubbing Alcohol in my ear to clean it out. I am worried that I could get Naegleria Floweri or something like that from the rain water having been in my ear. Now my ear hurts a little bit and I am having some pain on that side of my head.

Is this even a concern or am I just reaching on this one?

I've done a lot of research on N. Fowleri because I still have a fear of it. There is absolutely NO WAY you can get infected through your ear, unless you have a perforated ear drum - and believe me, you would KNOW if your ear drum is perforated. Your body has a "defense" system built up in your ear that creates a "seal", if you will, that won't allow water or bacteria or N. Fowleri get to your brain - unless your ear drum is perforated. And like I said - you would KNOW if you had a perforated ear drum.
