let my HA get the best of me... Naegleria fowleri scare
« on: May 25, 2014, 06:23:48 PM »
Hi everyone,
So I havent been on this forum in a while, which is a good thing! I've been doing better with my fear of naelgeria fowleri, until today. Today, I was getting my riding lawnmower out of my shed. I put 2 small blocks of wood below it so it wouldn't move last fall. Today when I pulled the blocks of wood out, I saw there was a lot of water on them and they were wet. It rained yesterday at my house, but the blocks were in the shed so I doubt they got wet from the rain. When I threw the blocks on the ground some of the water came up and went into my nose. It was also 80 degree weather today. Is it possible to contract naegleria fowleri this way? Please help

One thing I always stress about this naelgeria fowleri is that you get less than 3 cases a year. Take the population of the US and think of yourself of been one of the two people in the US who may get it this year. What are the odds? It is something you always feared. But every drop of water up your nose does not mean naelgeria fowleri. Certain other things would come into play too, as well as the water. Which make the odds about 5 million to one or even greater. More chance of winning the lottery twice in the same week with tickets bought in the same shop.
