Mucusy feeling in lungs
« on: May 25, 2014, 03:57:02 PM »
I worked out for the first time today in months and I noticed I had some kind of gross tightish feeling in my chest, but I'm almost certain it's mucus in my lungs/chest, because I've had bronchitis before and it feels the same. I'm aware that this could be from not working out for a while, and I am also allergic to plenty of things around the environment in which I live, nothing severe, but just enough to give me a stuffy nose and some sinus drainage. Do you think this could be the cause? And if so, what can I do to break up that mucus in my chest?

Well it sounds like you have a very good understanding of what the problem could be, so I think it's worth trying to resolve that. I'm assming you don't think you have bronchitis again, so I'd say allergies are a very likely cause. You've probably only noticed it so much because of working out - naturally your lungs are working harder, so such feelings would come to light.

Rather than post an extensive list of ways to clear such things - I get it myself from allergies of my own - I'd like to link you to the website I used last time. It's just a wikihow page: http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Chest-Congestion

I hope it helps :)

Yeah I doubt it's bronchitis because I've felt it at least a little since it started getting warmer again, and other than the congestion I feel generally pretty well. Thanks for the link though. I'll try some of those!

Well the fact it's just congestion is obviously a great sign, so it really is likely just allergies. I really hope those things work for you. I found ginger tea to be a lifesaver when I have it!

Well I'm not 100% certain it's congestion, but based on the fact that I'm 18 I doubt it could be something awful like lung cancer. I only smoked for a year or two and I haven't touched one in several months. I also don't think it's serious because I don't get winded after something simple like just walking up stairs, but maybe after running for a few minutes. That could also just be that I'm out of shape though.  :P

Yeah, being out of shape can certainly do that! I know that from experience  :P
