this meditation helps relieve my anxeity
« on: May 24, 2014, 08:51:57 AM »
This meditation, along with TEA Forms (read here) has really helped me be calmer and more at peace. I have trouble focusing during meditation, so I do the Buddhist Loving Kindness Meditation (Metta Meditation) combined with Hoʻoponopono Self-I-Dentity meditation so that I have something wholesome to think about which keeps my mind busy and still creates positive energy.

Sit comfortable and all that. Then say this to yourself. It takes 15-30 minutes and you will be amazed at the amount of relief and reconciliation it will bring to you.

say the below words for:

yourself
a loved one
a friend
a difficult person
a person you don't like
a group of people you like
a group of people you do not like
your country
the world
all animals, insects and creatures
all sentient beings in the universe: micro-organisms, life on other planets
all inter-dimensional beings you believe in: spirits, demi-gods, demons and ghosts
enlightened beings and guides you believe in: saints, buddhas, angels
your understanding of the ultimate god/universe

metta/hoʻoponopono:

may you be at peace
may you be happy
may you feel joy in your heart
may you forgive
may you be healthy
may you be safe
may you find relief
may you have love in your heart
may you be well
I am sorry if I have hurt you
I love you and forgive you
thank you

You may be surprised at the amount of resentments, bitterness and anger this can temporarily bring up, that you did not realize you have in you. Its ok, just let it come and go and keep saying the words, even if it feels like you don't mean it at first. Eventually it sinks it.

I hope this helps bring you peace and relaxation!

You give meditation the broad scope it can have and the individualized approach possible.

Hope others see your fine post, are willing to give it a try, and share the experience.

Exactly, you can switch the words and intended recipients a bit to match your situation and beliefs.

The main point is to have focused love, kindness and forgiveness on all areas of your life and "shine the light" on every possible place in your mind.

Off to meditate, but will be back.

Do you think the thread would be helpful in GAD? Your links are also so excellent.

The TEA form and the errors it points to is my stronghold on CBT and semi-sanity.

And Buddhism (as a philosophy) with focus on meditation can bring out the best in us. My hope is for nothing less than a world where there is only peace.

tinam7 - TEA Forms continue to help me and also I am doing a new form called "Calculating the Probability of Danger" which made me realize the for all my worst fears I realistically have a 99% chance of being just fine. Check out page 6:

Well, my worst fear has a much higher probability, but thanks to a more optimistic, confident, proactive outlook, it is not getting the better of me. The link provides a nice TEA type form for OCD issues.

By now I do most of it in my head, even during meditation. Some mantras are simply, "Be Strong; Be Confident; Love Yourself, Love Others." I do so love meditation a precious time to reprogram the old brain, at least in my version of meditation. Have a very open, flexible attitude toward meditation.
