More than anxiety
« on: May 22, 2014, 03:07:23 AM »
So I was diagnosed with GAD and mild depression a few years ago. Over the years I've been feeling like it's getting worse and no meds seem to help. My mood changes quickly and there are times I get so mad I just want to trash my room. Dr said that it's all part of having anxiety but honestly I don't know if I believe her anymore. Not sure what else it could be but it's starting to make my life difficult.

Hi Kristina,

I am sorry for all you are going through.  I also have GAD and know how it can really take over your life.  What kind of doctor are you seeing? GP, Psychiatrist, Psychologist?  If you are unhappy or feel that they are not listening to your concerns, it may be time to seek out a new doctor.  It may just be the anxiety, but then maybe ask why it is anxiety and not something else.  Ask questions and be your own advocate.  There could be something else going on or not, but you will never know unless you push to find out and get answers.

I also want to add welcome to the forum.  It is great to have you as a member.  This is a wonderful place to get advice and support from people going through similar situations.  The members here are very helpful. It is nice to know we are not alone.

Feel free to explore the forum.  There are lots of useful topics to read.  Feel free to post and ask questions.  If you have specific concerns or questions start a topic in the appropriate section to get the best feedback. There is also a chat room for members 18 years and older that you can access once you have made three meaningful posts in the forum.

Again welcome to our community.
