I'd be surprised if I DIDNT wake up with a numb hand or arm lol.  You've obviously got a nerve trapped in the neck of thoracic spine. The fact that it doesn't stay numb all day means it's nothing serious.

So, maybe carpal tunnel or a trapped nerve? Liklihood of it being something more serious? Should I go to the doc to get it examined first?
I gotta tell ya, when it happens, it's pretty scarey.
Yeah it definitely doesn't happen during the day, only at night. Although I'm not sleeping on my hand, could I be putting pressure on it in another way, like having it bent at the elbow could be trapping bloodflow or a nerve? I see that some people with carpal tunnel tried sleeping wearing a splint, has anyone here tried that?
