Pancreatic Cancer (PC) Fear Update
« on: May 20, 2014, 10:57:00 AM »
Hello,
and sorry to post again .... I am just too scared.
I am a man 41 years old, I am kind of skinny (1m80 and 65 kg). I have a strong history of HA ....
One year ago I started to develop a fear of Pancreatic Cancer (did not have specific symptoms other than kind of sticky stools).
My blood tests show a fluctuating lipase level. A CT Scan performed last october was clear.
I had other blood tests recently still showing a fluctuating lipase.
Now I discovered than I have a fasting blood sugar at 105 (I had it 4 years ago and 3 years ago). I have a normal A1C ***** 5%.
I bought a gluco-meter, which showed once a value of 66. Now I think I have impaired glucose tolerance and super scared.
I now the odds of having PC at my age are super low but this lipase + blood sugar make me feel I have it.
I have a MRI next week.
So scared because I am convinced it will show nothing as my PC is just growing (and I read that a new onset of glucose intolerance is just the beginning).
So I do not know what to do .....

What you should do is pretty straightforward: treat your anxiety. You have HA. You know you do. You have to treat it if you ever want to get on with your life.

The lipase and blood sugar that you speak about is so terribly nonspecific that they really mean nothing. What do you mean by "fluctuating lipase"? All blood levels fluctuate for tons of different reasons. The time of day, what you've eaten, how much exercise you've gotten - TONS of stuff. Blood sugar is the same way.

Im scared of PC to. Get my blood results thursday and Im afraid of everything.

Also I've been having large stools that smell like cheese

Would a sour smell be considered "foul" smelling?

Many thanks for your answer.
I had values which were 3x the maximum value and then OK a few days after. To be honnest it is more the lipase + blood sugar which scares me (as new glucose intolerance is an early sign of PC).
I go and see a new psy. Tomorrow. And a gastro too. Hard day !!!
