help! quick
« on: May 15, 2014, 01:39:57 PM »
hi
i haven't been here in a while, doing pretty good. except for this puppy thing! ugh. i thought i had a good handle on it, but today my puppy was either eating or just sniffing(not sure which)a dead bird, or bat(i think bird, white legs, and had gray/white/black feathers...on what was left of it anyway. it was really freshly killed, and there was only the bottom half. the legs were longish, so i think it was a bird. i am not sure if she sniffed, licked or ate some of it.

i'm about to freak out. can she get rabies from this? i know, i know, she had a rabies vaccine, but my what if's are taking hold. like what if it is not 100% effective?
she still likes to bite so i'm scared.
help. i'm about to cry

I have never ever heard of a case of rabies in a bird...and if it had feathers it was a bird.  Moreover rabies vaccines are effective....trust me I have three cats, a dog, and four horses who are all vaccinated and interract with the local wildlife on a regular basis and all of them are fine.  You have not hung to worry about except your anxiety.  Try to relax and enjoy your puppy!
