Am I crazy?
« on: May 12, 2014, 10:40:17 PM »
In December I experienced my first panic attack after going to the ER and finding out I have ovarian cysts. Since December I have gone from one disease to the next and have had multiple tests done to "Ease my mind".
I've had the following:
--A 24 hour holter monitor for my heart
--A treadmill stress test for my heart
--A Doppler ultrasound to check for a DVT in my legs
---An abdomen xray
---A follow-up ultrasound on my ovaries and uterus from my cysts
--A ton of blood work
--A brain CT scan
--I've had to have a mole removed because my doctor thought I had melanoma
--Ive also recently gone to the doctor with a lump on my calf paranoid I had bone cancer

Now I have what I think is a swollen lymph node and I'm convinced I have lymphoma. I'm only 20..i can only imagine what my list will look like by the time i'm 40.

You're not crazy you just have severe anxiety about your health or in other words hypochondriasis. I have the same thing but maybe not as severe as yours is. One day I am convinced I have a brain tumor and the next it could be MS or ALS. Right now I have anxiety about having crohns disease, colitis, or possibly some type of cancer. If your not seeing a mental health professional please do so they can really help.

I knew a girl when I was 16 who had an ovarian cyst, so I assume they're not that uncommon?

My health anxiety developed after I had a severe bacterial infection of my stomach. Guess it's the mind's natural response to not desperately want things to get "worse".

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps a lot, I would highly recommend it.
