What do you do when you can't cope?

Hey!

We all know that the stress brought on by health anxiety can sometimes be VERY overwhelming and mentally, as well as emotionally exhausting. What do you do when it all gets too much? How do you relieve the tension? Have any of you developped coping mechanisms?

This is such a great post and one in which I hope many people respond...we could all use coping mechanisms.

Here are a few of mine:
1) I come here when I'm incredibly overwhelmed b/c I feel less alone in this struggle.
2) I have a beer (maybe not the best way to cope, but I've been told that there are even health benefits to 1 drink a day, so that's the way that I make it okay in my head...LOL)
3) I go for a walk and put my headphones in and just work out some frustration
4) I lay down and do some deep breathing exercises
5) I journal

Those are all awesome tips!! Yes, even the beer :P Actually I should take a leaf out of your book and start journaling!

I second the walking notion, and heck even just going outside can help me most of the time. I feel like it has something to do with the fresh air and the lack of physical boundaries, it makes me feel more free, which has always been a great feeling for me, not to mention staying inside all the time can start to feel stuffy and oppressive after a while, which can heighten anxiety. I think I should give that journaling a try! Thanks for the suggestions! :)

Some days I take a nap.  I'll stretch out on the bed and turn on a DIY show or gardening show and doze off.

Oh another one I forgot about. I tend to have a lot of nervous energy and get restless so I'll end up bouncing my leg up and down or shaking my foot, so a good one for me is rubbing the worry stone I got to help release some of that nervous energy.

i would not recommend drinking beer lol could become depeandant and give yourself more problems heres what i do

1> deep breath for as long as it take to get anxeity down
2> challenge a thought if im worrying about something
3>if still nothing run and run like crazy seem insane but helps
4> drink water
5> realise it cant hurt you and it can make you feel completely ill but it cant hurt you ever
