Hi, I'm experiencing extreme muscle tension in my back right now....one thing that can help in a soak in a warm bath with Epsom salt.  I would say relaxing is also good, but for us anxiety sufferers doing that is easier said than done

Take care :)

I feel for you. I have had this with anxiety and it just creates more stress, which in turn creates more muscle tension. Maybe some stretching exercises followed by a hot bath as the previous poster stated? Robaxacet can be helpful sometimes.

Hi DeLillis. I'm sorry to hear of your muscle tension. Are you on any medication? Do you feel trigger points in the muscle tissues in your scalp/head/temples? I get those too! Are you suffering with allergies? Where I live in the NYC area, the air has been filled with headache inducing pollen and pollution lately.

I've had chronic myofascial syndrome (it's a pain, inflammation and muscle spasm syndrome that makes muscles tight, stiff and painful and barely anything can bring relief). It started from an injury and I've had it for 7 years. I've been to every specialist under the sun and I'm still living with neck and shoulder pain and inflammation all the time, so even though I know about tension, it's hard to give advice because everyone is different.

A few things that have helped - not cured, but helped me:

For headaches, I highly recommend Acupuncture. Acupuncture also helps tremendously with anxiety and stress and pain in the body. I was nervous about it but once I started going for treatments I was happier, more energetic, I lost weight, de-stressed somewhat and cleared up my sinuses and bloated belly! I personally love it. Also, if you can get a prescription of 800mg Motrin from your Doctor, that will help with any inflammation in the body - please drink TONS of water on this if you go for it. I find for that for headaches, 3 regular Bayer aspirin are the best. And of course, a massage is always helpful.

I hope this helps and I hope you feel better! Let us know!!

How long have you been on Klonopin, how much and have you decreased it? Benzodiazepines are notorious in creating muscle tension and spasm and inflammation. Funny because, when you first take them, they're prescribed to do the opposite.

I also suffer with extreme muscle tension! Actually, the last few weeks have been the worst. Mine is mainly my back and chest but it is so ridiculously tense it hurts to move. I have tried massage but it only helps during the massage and then it's right back. I would love to try acupuncture! I hope you find something that helps. Try the hot bath, meditation, yoga is great too! I used to do yoga all the time and I felt so good and then I quit but am trying to get back to it. I hope you feel better soon  :happy0151:
