HELP! unknown spice in eye!
« on: April 29, 2014, 09:38:27 PM »
I was blowing out a spice and coffee grinder to grind pepper to make an omnlet and the red pepper looking spice went into my right eye and it was fine, but now it feels hot, like when you sit near a fire too long. I've tried to wash it off but it still burns and some of it is IN my eye, also touching it makes it worse! Help me please, what shall I do?

I would flush your eye out. Maybe get some eye drops?

I would run cold water on it, but I'm not a doctor!  That's just what I do when I get stuff in my eye - hold the eye open with one hand and pour with the other.  I knew someone who got fertilizer in her eye and that's what the poison control people told her to do as well.

Yeah, she was gardening.  She ran it under water for like fifteen straight minutes and the doctor she saw said that saved her a lot of pain and complications later on, so it really does make a difference.

OP, please note that she got AMMONIA in her eye and had an allergic reaction to it to boot.  You're not going to have a reaction as severe as hers, and if you were going to you would have had it immediately.

Thanks, I figured it out, I dabbed milk on my eye lid and the burning stopped and soon after the eye burning stopped.  :laugh3:
