Heart racing question
« on: April 24, 2014, 11:43:21 PM »
What kind of heart rate do people count as a racing heart rate? I normally have a heart rate between 60-70...recently my heart rate has been 85-100. Would you count that as a scary racing heart rate? I'm scared because it's so different than normal...

My dad is a cardiologist and he told me 200 - 400 beats is when you should be worrying. Rapid heart beats are totally normal for anxiety. I get them all the time! There's a great breathing exercise you can use when you feel your heart begin to race, and it'll help slow you down!

It's called the 4-7-8 method. It's really helped me calm down. I dunno if I can post links here (is that allowed?) but you should be able to find great videos on it if you google it. Also, chamomile tea slows me down and calms my fears. That's always worth a try for you!

Thank you for posting this. My heart rate is often 90-95 when I take it at the store. If I sit a while and take a few deep breathes, I can get it down to 85. This is good to know.
