Dizziness When Walking Up Stairs
« on: April 24, 2014, 07:45:15 PM »
Ahh....a new one. I was walking home from the store and as I walked up the railing, I was hit with some of the worst lightheadedness I have in my whole life, almost falling down for no reason. Then, I walked up the stairs of my apartment building to make sure it wasn't just me and I almost got lightheaded again but holding onto the rail saved me. My heart pounded from walking up the stairs. I almost fell down walking into my house earlier in the day and just thought it was my faulty sinuses, which have been making breathing odd lately. At one point today, it felt like wind was knocked out of me and I got light headed, and I woke up with nervousness for no reason today. I'm 16 and have no history of heart issues on either side of the family, but I'm afraid that something's going to happen. I've been having palpitations more often as of the past couple of days [no dizziness or chest pain with them, just the feeling of a skipped heart beat] and when I lay in bed and turn over on one side, my heart tends to pound for 5-10 minutes...I tend to ignore it and manage to fall asleep.

Anyone else deal with this?

First things first, take a deep breath and try to calm down. Easier said than done, I know!

This issue could easily be caused by anxiety which can make your heart beat rapidly at the most random of times. On some days, mine has taken up to beating extremely fast after I eat. There could be a million reasons why you got dizzy going up stairs today. It would only be a cause for concern if this continues for a long period of time. I would focus on making sure you've eaten well and that you're getting the right amount of vitamins, which could easily make you feel light headed. Stress will only make it worse, so try to find a way to calm yourself down. Sometimes a warm bath or a cup of tea can help me out!

Sounds kind of like my symptoms. I think you should get checked out to rule out anything bad, but I seriously think it is anxiety hiding and attacking you at random times.

Nowadays, I get dizzy or off balance when I do too much of anything. It's probably my sinuses, I wake up with earaches and post nasal drip at times and they squeeze and I feel it in my face and it makes me lightheaded. It makes it hard to walk at times.

Issues with your sinuses can easily cause lightheadedness; I would also suggest that you make sure you're getting enough lean protein and are well hydrated (that does not mean soda, Gatorade or other such junk!).

I have constant stuffy nose as well as head and or face pressure lying down. I wake up dizzy some days. Can that be sinus related?
