When in doubt adopt a cat or dog.
« on: April 23, 2014, 10:13:20 PM »
Animals are the best anxiety reducers I can imagine.  I have three shelter cats (one i just adopted today...she is 13 and no one else wants a geriatric cat) and one dog.  When I am focused on them my anxiety takes a back seat and I can be "normal.". I also have horses but l know that they are not practical pets for a while sincemost folks.  Bottom one is...If you cannot adopt a dog or cat consider fostering or volunteering...caring for animals makes everything else fade into the background.  Just a thought .

I agree. I have three rescue cats that are like my kids. They make me happy just knowing they're around. I'm also looking into getting a dog sometime in the future. I love animals and they always make me feel comfort. I think the fact that animals love us unconditionally, is an amazing thing. They are best friends/kids to us and we know that no matter what they'll be there. I hope your new kitty is adjusting well to the new home!

Giving up is always an option, but it is never my choice.

Hunter aka "the queen" is settling in great.  If you are looking into getting a dog I highly recommend a pit bull.  They are such loving and loyal dogs.  My former vet is actually affiliated with a Pitt rescue that always has a selection of dogs from energetic youngsters to mellow seniors.  If you are interested let me know and I will put you in touch.
