I have a little plastic lizard, which is my avatar. I use it to physically represent my OCD. When intrusive thoughts start I stare at it and say, "Really? Really?! This is what you want me to think about?" Or something similar. It's total silly, I know. But that's the point. I identify my obsessive thoughts and then treat them with the respect they deserve. None. I find it helps take away their power, reacting to my anxieties with silliness.
