Can't get over radiation exposure
« on: April 21, 2014, 03:25:47 PM »
I don't know why but I just can't seem to get over my fear of being exposed to radiation by anything.  I was so afraid of it that I have used a cell phone only three times in the past year and a half.  I've contemplated quitting my job because I use wireless headsets - use to be up to 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, now I almost always refuse to wear one - for about 2 and a half years.

I worry all the time by saying "will this exposure amount give me a brain tumor?"  Or even a cell phone tower, or dental x-ray.  How much radiation do we need to cause harmful effects on our bodies?

The short answer is a lot.  You get exposed to more radiation from the sun and the universe's background radiation than from using cell phones or headsets.  Unless you live in Chernobyl or have been hanging out at the Fukushima reactor you have nothing to worry about.  Hang in there!
