uuugghhh the breath thing
« on: April 20, 2014, 12:30:19 PM »
I know there was just a post on this a couple of days ago. The whole shortness of breath thing. I can never "get that full breath" I get this everyday....for most of the day!!!! I constantly feel like I have to take deep breaths and yawn!!!! I'm often confuses if its my asthma or anxiety so I tend to overuse my inhaler.

I went to the ER last night because of it. Got an ekg-normal. Got a chest and lung exray-normal. That proves its anxiety right? I'm on meds and go to therapy. Just want to know that I'm not alone and know others stories.

I feel like this sometimes when my abdomen muscles tighten from stress and I only breathe into my chest.  I end up taking shorter, more shallow breaths and then wonder why I'm not getting all the air.

If I'm having a hard time doing this, like when I'm standing up, I lay down flat on the floor and breathe in deep and slow.  Make sure your stomach rises.

I apologize if you've already tried this.  I have no experience with asthma. ^^;

I don't get actual panic/anxiety attacks. I just have anxiety all day every day. I always find myself yawning alot, taking in deep breaths and shallow breathing. My brother has it all the time but isn't a hypochondriac so just brushes it off. I just don't get why its been going on for days lately  :fragend005:

"That proves its anxiety right?"

Unfortunately it doesn't. I have the same problem + I feel my throat is tight sometimes:(. To rule out some heart or lung issues you should do some more tests IMO. Not something doctors would like to do(test = money), but I would do at least some "echo" test for the heart and D-dimer + ABG blood test(and maybe a lung CT further).

Well I think I'm good with tests....ive had 2 chest and lung xrays within the last 2 months, an ekg, a stress test, a d dimer and full heart blood work, cbc and a pulmo test. So I guess it is anxiety.
