Brain tumour, so scared please help me?
« on: April 19, 2014, 03:26:54 PM »
For almost 3 years (with a year where I was ok in between) I have had constant headache at one side and a tingling foot at the opposite side. I had a CT scan 3 years ago when it first started which was 'normal' I also see a lot of floaters in my vision and recently I have noticed occasional blue flashes in my vision which lasts about a second and then goes away. The headaches aren't especially severe but they are always there and the tingling in my foot is annoying and worrying. The left side of my body feels weaker than my right. My doctor is baffled and I am going to a headache clinic. I had my eyes tested at the start of this year and she said that everything looks normal behind my eyes. I have recently started taking microgynon contraceptive pill last week (I switched from the implant) and I have been taking citalopram for almost 3 weeks.
Does this sound like a brain tumour? I am so scared.. and if not.. what the heck is it? The headache is mostly the right side of my head and the left side of my body is weaker and my left lower left is very stiff and my left hand doesn't seem to move properly. Would a CT scan 3 years ago have missed it or could I have developed it since?

There's a lot of different types of headaches that mimic other things. There's migraines, ocular migraines, tension headaches, cluster headaches ( which you don't have cause you'd be on the ground screaming, there refered to as ***** headaches, that's how severe the pain is). Even like a slight migraine can cause tingling or numbness in the extremities. The floaters sound like it's ocular related.

I also get like blue flashes at night when I'm trying to go to sleep, even vibrating vision. I've had an mri and there was nothing shown.

It sounds like a migraine to me.  They can do really weird things to you.  I knew someone who suddenly started speaking in garbled sentences.  She thought she was having a stroke.  But it turned out to be related to a migraine, which she'd never had before.

3 years? I think you'd know what was happening by now.

Blue flashes? Had em. My brother has red and blue at times. Just in the corner of his eye. He's no hypo though, not one bit. (lucky guy)
Floaters? Normal - as far as i'm aware NOTHING to do with the brain. Just eye gel.

The pain may be migraines or cluster headaches. If it's affecting your day to day life, i'd try do something. But if it's just the worry of the Brain problems i'm sure you can put them to rest for now.

Sort out the pain! And stop worrying!

I had the headaches and tingling from August until about December 2011 then I felt ok until February 2013 and that is when the headaches came back, they are usually on the right side and the tingling and weakness is on the left which makes me worry even more that it is a tumour as the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and vice versa? Also my left calf is very stiff lately and hurts when I walk and my mums friend who had one had a pain in her foot when she walked! So scared.
