Low Blood Pressure
« on: April 18, 2014, 11:23:10 PM »
Hello all.
Has anyone ever gotten random bouts of low blood pressure from anxiety/stress?

I have been a heart worrier for the past couple of months and had clean results from cardiologists. At random times I just get lightheaded out of the blue. I first I thought it was "all in my head" but when the lightheadedness happens I check my blood pressure and it's lower than normal. The hypotension comes and goes at random. I try ingesting more electrolights, more water, more sugar but nothing works. It sometimes happens when I'm just sitting so it's not from changing position either. Sometimes it lasts for a night but one time it lasted for a week, the weird part is I wake up fine but as the day goes on it catches up to me.

Again, I'm a heart worrier and hope someone has experience with this for comfort. :dazed:

You'd have to ingest more SALT.
My friend's son would get like that and the doctor told him to up his salt intake.
How low IS your blood pressure?

I've experienced it and its very disconcerting.  I'm also a heart worrier and recently lost a lot of weight, for last several weeks was feeling very anxious and lightheaded.  Called doc who said that my doseage of blood pressure medication now may be too much since I've lost the weight so he told me to take half of what I had been taking.  Within 48 hours my anxiety went away and no more lightheaded feelings.

If you're on BP meds, check with your doc - they may need to be adjusted - even if your weight is stable, sometimes the body just gets used to the med after time

Sorry for the late response. I don't take BP meds and normally my readings are 120/80 but get bouts of lightheadedness for hours down to 90/75. This could last days or minutes.
It's very debilitating.

I would tell your physician your symptoms and concerns.
