Please help! Anyone!
« on: April 17, 2014, 09:53:50 PM »
I had bloodwork done mid January and had everything checked, CBC, kidneys, liver, blood sugar. Everything came back fine. Late February I noticed a rash that looks like petachiae. I am waiting to see a dermotologist. In the meantime I am freaking out about leukemia.

Unlikely. Leukemia's a pretty quickly-progressing disease, so if you noticed a petachiae rash in February, and you're not more sick by now, chances are it's nothing. Especially not if you had clean bloodwork in January.

I doubt petachiae would be your only symptom if you had leukemia. Do you feel like death warmed over? I went through this scare a few years ago, too. Do you have just a few dots or does your entire leg look red?

In case anyone is still confused:  googling your symptoms will cause you to remain in a state of extreme anxiety. Stepping away from the internet is the first step toward lasting peace.

If you're describing it as a rash then it's probably bumpy or has raised patches?  Petechiae are completely flat.  It also will not blanch (turn white) if you press your thumb into it and release, while a rash will.  I think you are perfectly safe in waiting to see your dermatologist but I am not a medical professional either.

I have a few dots on my ankle and a few on my shin. Not many. They are flat and very tiny. I'm sure if I wasn't paranoid about my skin in the last 6 months I wouldn't even know they are there.

Otherwise I feel fine. Had a cold last week, that's it. I am working out and eating healthy.

Could very well be cherry angiomas (you can google them ... It's safe!). I have them.
