How to deal with "real" medical issues
« on: March 24, 2014, 07:33:49 AM »
Hi Everyone,
I have been doing much better with my HA until the worst hit me.  I have fibroids and they have gotten really huge.  I was bleeding really bad but that has been resolved due to BC pills.  Now my doc says I need to do something and I agree but the options are all surgical.  I told them I didn't want a hysterectomy and they said ok they could do a myomectomy (just remove the fibroids) using the da vinci robot.  This is good because it is outpatient and quicker recovery.  I have to do an MRI this Thursday to confirm this plan and I have a consult with a radiologist who does an alternative treatment called Uterine Artery Embolization but I am not sure that will work and it is sounds pretty painful.

This is just too much for someone with HA, I am scared of general anesthesia and I just can't believe I have to do all of this.

How do those of us with HA cope with actual medical issues...any advice?

Even though you have real medical condition it doesn't change a thing, since your thinking is still irrational. You are scared of general anesthesia which you shouldn't be really.

So, you should cope with this the same way you do with other HA issues.

Thanks Hypo,
That is a good bit of advice.  I think sometimes we think that this is a "legitimate" problem so we don't know how to cope but the idea is still the same.  Turn off all of the negative thinking and just know you are going to be ok.

Simple idea...thanks.
