A whole year of dealing with this
« on: March 21, 2014, 11:02:33 PM »
About a year ago the floor of my mouth around my right sublingual gland got swollen, sore, and started to peel.  I also had TMJ which was undiagnosed at the time.  Those symptoms mixed together led me to believe I had oral cancer.  I've been checked out by an ENT and oral surgeons multiple times.  Even had a CT scan that was clear.  But it's been over a year and the floor of my mouth is still swollen and very painful and it sheds periodically.  The doctors keep saying it's fine but it's so painful and it just doesn't seem normal to me.  I don't know what to do.

I was coming here trying not to google this because I've googled it before and I know the results always point to cancer.  But I gave in and googled, and now I am scared.

If your mouth remains painful after a year and continues to peel but your doctor tells you its fine, then personally I would get a second opinion because a painful, peeling mouth is not normal - that DOES NOT mean its cancer, its just doesn't seem normal.

The thing is not only have I had a second opinion, but I have a third and fourth opinion too.  They all say it's fine.
