Is This Normal? (Simple Eyesight Question)
« on: March 15, 2014, 08:35:15 PM »
Does anyone else struggle with going from reading an article on their phone to looking to let's say the clock on your cable box or reading something on the TV? Or another example, if you're in class or at work and you're looking at your paper and then go to looking at your computer screen or a projector screen or whiteboard in class?

Does anyone else have blurriness and difficulty adjusting at first? Is this normal? I've noticed this for awhile but am more concerned about it after reading about Neuro issues that often present with optical differences.

Yes!!  I have the exact same thing.  It's annoying.  I can be reading something and then look up across the room and everything is blurry.  It takes a little bit, too, to finally squint and focus.  I had an eye exam two years ago and the eye doctor said that's age and normal.  I'm 45.

Hm. I'm 16! Wonder if my eyes just suck or if that's normal regardless of age?

It sounds like it might be related to computer vision syndrome and totally not a cause for concern. Looking at a computer/phone screen is different for the eyes than looking at paper/the clock/something not on a screen, so there's an adjustment that has to take place when you switch. My eye doctor recommended taking breaks every 20-30 minutes or so from looking at a screen and making your eyes focus on something sort of far away to help ease/prevent eye strain.
