Weird feeling in abdomen?
« on: March 04, 2014, 10:52:12 PM »
What organs is around/under the belly button I feel these things that feel like lines and it's kinda lumpy ish I can press on it and none of it will hurt but sometimes it twitches after a few minutes
Is it just muscle/spasms and intestines in that area or?
(I'm not pregnant, not sexually active and had normal periods.)

Hi Mikayla...

Your small intestines are located beneath your umbilicus (belly button).  The average small intestine in an adult is approximately 25 feet long, and is responsible for absorbing the majority of nutrients that we require.  The reason that your intestines don't hurt when you press/poke on them, is that they have no nerve endings.  If they did, you would constantly be aware of the movement of food as it passes through them.  They are indeed bumpy/lumpy, as they move, contract, and food passes through them.

The very best to you, Mikayla!...  Chuck :grinning-smiley-003:
