i am scared to death of medication.

A lot of us with anxiety disorders are med phobic. I certainly am when it comes to psych drugs having to be hospitalized when starting or changing antidepressants.

If your insurance adequately covers them the cognitive and/or behavioural or mindfulness therapies can be very effective and may help you with med phobia and anxiety generally.

NOTE: I'm not a doctor, and particularly not yours, so there may be factors I'm unaware of. Therefore all advice is of a general nature and you should consult your doctor before following any of it, especially before changing med doses.

When I take a new medicine I get anxious about it. Almost any medication. I used to never care. Even stuff administered by a doctor freaked me out last time. I went for an endoscopy and they were knocking me out. The guy put the solution in the IV and it takes like 30-60 seconds to kick in, but I started getting really anxious about it, thinking I'd never wake up again (I did, by the way!) lol.

I think in regards to depression/anxiety meds, it's somewhat logical to be a bit scared. But that's why you go to a professional since they generally know best.

Best of luck! Head up!

You are not alone, I was suppose to start my effexor weeks ago, lol. Everytime I start new meds I get so anxious I actually have like a panic attack as soon as I swallow it. I hate being placed in hospitals tho it makes me so uncomfortable.

The best advice I guess is just to pop it down the hatch and don't think about it, think about the positive it'll do. Try and chill out, relax. The worst thing to do which is hard is to wait for it, I have a habit of constantly mentally waiting, asking myself what if or omg what's gonna happen when it kicks in, it's not a good way to do things. Or you could be hospitalized, but just beware that Theres people in there that are well.... A lot sicker than us, a lot, very sad but true.
