no period for a LONG time - not pregnant
« on: March 04, 2014, 08:59:54 PM »
i'm 31 years old and that i know of, in good health. ever since i could remember, i have had irregular periods. it got to the point where i wouldn't have one for over a year. i am not pregnant - but i have not had a period since july 4th 2013. has anyone else had this issue? i am the one girl in the world that gets anxious when they get their period - BUT, super relieved all at the same time, because i finally feel like a woman, haha! sorry if this is TMI.

i finally got my period after 13 months back in may. skipped it in june, then had it in july [2013] i am really worried that something may be wrong with me, and of course dr. google says i am dying of cancer. i know there are people that have had this issue - so would love to hear input, if at all possible.

I just want you to know.... You're not alone...

I haven't had a period in all of my 22 years.. :|

Sometimes, when I'm home alone, I fill my bathtub with tomato sauce and pretend I'm a meatball.

I don't think it's cancer. I've known many women who don't ovulate. I would go to the doctor and get tested for polycystic ovary syndrome or other hormone issues.

I know you hate going to the doctor's, but you should go to a gynecologist to get that checked out. It's most likely a hormonal problem. I have skipped periods before, and it turns out some hormones were out of wack.

My gynecologist put me on birth control, and my periods are normal now.

i have such a huge fear of medications, especially those that mess with hormones, like BC. i have a med phobia because of incidents i have had with medications in the past. i hate that medications are the answer for so many things. :(

I know, I hate medication too! I really wasn't crazy about starting birth control or taking an SSRI, but sometimes it's necessary. It's probably not a problem for you, unless you want to get pregnant someday. Then it might mess with things.

I think it's worth mentioning to a doctor, definitely.

Hormones must have something to do with it! Seriously, though, anxiety / stress hormones fux up your period like it's their occupation. I think its really typical for your period to be off if you have constant anxiety. I know for me personally, if I go through a period of hyper anxiety I spot. It's literally like clock work. Like, I'll be stressing about something and i'll think to myself, "i'm deffinitly going to spot today" and then i do. It's totally redic!!

Also, are you under weight? I have a friend who every time she got below a certain weight she stopped getting her period.
