Ingrown hair? Or something else?
« on: March 02, 2014, 04:10:15 PM »
Hi there,
So this morning I noticed I was really itchy in my bikini line area, and after inspection I was very red and noticed at least two bumps in this area too, right along where the edge of the pants would touch my leg. I have never had ingrown hairs before so I don't know if this could be it, or something else? I had a bikini wax about a month ago. Can this happen almost a month after a wax? Or if it was ingrown hairs would it not happen sooner? Of course I googled and skin cancer came up in the results! :(

This can most DEFINITELY be an ingrown hair a month after a bikini wax! When you wax, it takes much longer for the hair to return rather than if you just shaved, because you're pulling the entire hair follicle out.

Hey you.   Stop that googling :angry-smiley-034:
Sounds like an ingrown hair.   (and it's most common with a courser hair which would be at the bikini line) That's just caused from a hair breaking off below the skin surface.   It probably would take that long to start to bother you.  Don't forget, it would have to take a while to grow to the surface, then it would take a while for irritation to develop.  It's NOT skin cancer.

Ok thanks folks. I'll try to accept that it's probably an ingrown hair...and lay off the googling :( fingers crossed that's all it is.

If nothing else it's a clogged pore. If you wear tight clothing or if it's in that type of area it will most likely cause some type of clogging especially if you sweat there too.

If I have a hard week at the gym I'll get them sometimes in areas I sweat a lot....

Wait it out for a few days and see if it continues to fester into a head... it will most likely go away too.

I get ingrown hairs all the time on my stomach. I haven't had a wax. maybe I should. ::)
