Clomipramine absolutely changed my life. People will tell you there's no magic pill, but for me, Clomipramine finally let me feel normal. I have been slowly improving over the past ~9 months of taking it. There may be controversy regarding this, but from my experience (I flipped between 8 different antidepressants over 4 years) Clomipramine is the strongest and the only one that actually seemed to begin to work within the first month.
Rather than go through start up again, try to remain at a theraputic dose of your current antidepressant for the full 12 weeks. If you are not responding in a moderate way, it is reasonable to switch.
If SSRIs don't work, there are still SNRIs, TCAs, and MAOIs with the TCAs and MAOIs possibly having a higher likelihood of working, but more possible lasting side effects.
