Anxiety Attacks make me Tired
« on: February 25, 2014, 02:10:29 PM »
I had a bad episode today where I woke up feeling shaky and didn't really get better. My reaction to anxiety attacks seams to be to fall asleep which is unfortunate because I have this thing called a job. I'm looking to see if anyone else has any tips on staying awake during an anxiety attack. In the middle of an episode I'm not all that motivated to try to stay awake because I feel like I would rather be asleep than awake and dealing with my physical symptoms.

I was really tired when I first started getting my episodes and I still don't feel as if I have gotten all of my energy back. I have tried talking vitamin B12 every morning for more energy and drinking tea, but still don't quite feel like myself. Watching videos online sometimes helps but if I'm feeling too spacy to pay attention to the video it's not going to work.

Attacks can drain us. They can leave us without much energy left. If that happens it is natural to feel tired. Simply because the body is worn out. That spaced out feeling sounds like derealization. Common symptom of anxiety. I would try and learn how to meditate. Whilst doing so focus on healing the body and the mind. This can only take 15 minutes. If done right it can leave you feeling refreshed and ready to go. You could also try and a few affirmations. Positive ones. Just things you say over and over to yourself. Like you are full of energy and ready to face the day. Anything along those lines. They sink into the subconscious mind. The more you do them that is. The body can respond to them. Just two things you might like to try.

I feel tired when I have anxiety attacks too. But when I don't sleep good it makes my anxiety a lot worse. It's like an endless cycle. It sucks :(

I'd feel like that after bad attacks, sometimes for several days. I haven't found a way around it, other than to do my best at work, tough it out, and just crash when I get home.

I've been having panic and anxiety all weekend and I've been so tired and drained.  I've napped and gone to bed early although I woke up often throughout the night sweaty.  Coffee would help but I don't like to drink it when I'm anxious since it can make things worse.  It's going to be hard going back to work today.

Yes new mommy. Probably because of all the tension. Especially the legs.

They are exhausting, aren't they?

I just woke up from an anxiety dream, which was so fast-paced. Now I'm pooped. Self-care is key, eat well, stretch, meditate, whatever you have to do.
