Waking up Startled
« on: February 16, 2014, 11:56:20 PM »
I'mnot sure what this is and what the cause is but iI have a major issue. When I go to sleep, a lot of the time iI will wake up via a noise or loud voice and be in a state of shock momentarily. I'm easily startled as I'm in midst of falling asleep by noises...im worriedits gonna give me a damn heart attack 1 of these days. Does anyone else experience this?

A lot of people can wake up in similar fashion. With a bit of a jump. If there is any way to make it go away I am as sure. We wake as we do. Some people are light sleepers. They might wake easier. I suppose it depends on what is going through your mind. Is it fear that someone has broken into your house? Or is it fear for unknown reasons? Because I am sure that people wake up and say ' what was that ', after they hear a sound. I tend to sleep with a radio on. So if I wake up mid sleep there is always music on. It might help. I do turn the radio off and go back to sleep. Next time I wake up I am nice and calm and relaxed. It might be something to try out. See if it makes any difference at all.

This is known as exploding head syndrome and although its name is quite scary it's relatively harmless (though frightening to experience). I get these maybe once or twice every few years.
