Can't take this anymore
« on: February 11, 2014, 03:06:59 PM »
I need to vent. My throat is burning RIGHT NOW just above the adam's apple. I can't figure out why. Nothing in my lifestyle, diet or medication regime has changed. I didn't eat anything bad. I'm no more or less stressed than usual. I'm just burning away, and crying all the while. None of the meds are working. What the hell do I do? I can't stand the thought of my whole life being like this!!

You have a fever? If you do, you should probably go to doctor, maybe to get some antibiotics. If not, wait for a few days, drink tea, vitamin C, suck some of those throat pills and you will be fine.

What is so worrisome?

No not a fever, not even a cold. This horrible burning has been going on for over a year now, and it's as bad as ever. I can just picture damage being done in there as I type this. I want to be able to eat/drink anything without worrying this is going to happen. It's awful to be scared of a basic behaviour.

Have you seen any doctor for it since it's going on for a year?

Yeah, 3 GPs, 4 specialists and 4 tests throughout 2013. Only one test showed anything; a small amount of 'stomach' pepsin in my throat, indicating LPR. You know, an INCURABLE, lifelong disorder. All the doctors are stumped because the UK simply doesn't know what LPR is; they put me on all sorts of reflux drugs and antidepressants, but none of them work, in fact arguably they've made me worse in the past.

That's good news. So you know it's all anxiety. Now focus on ignoring that pain completely. Eat what you want to eat. Do what you want to do regardless of the burning.

You can't make that burning go away consciously, but you can organize your life in a way that in doesn't interfere with your daily activities. If you do that, the pain might eventually go away without you even trying.

Peanut butter does that to me.  Can't eat it anymore - used to eat it all the time.  Burns just above the Adams Apple
