how long for antibiotics to work
« on: February 07, 2014, 11:57:31 PM »
Well I've been on antibiotics for a little over 24 hrs for my ear pain. So far no improvement. Hopefully I will see some relief soon. Anybody know how long it takes for antibiotics to start working?

Yes, I agree with the above post. I think the "24 hr" rule is for contagious. I believe you're not contagious after 24 hrs on antibiotics, but to actually feel relief for yourself, it takes a few days.

It also depends on what kind they gave you. If you're allergic to the one that would work the fastest, then you are given one that won't make you ill!

Ear infections can take a good 3 -4 days to start to feel better, depending on lots of stuff.  You need to unclog, too! Did they tell you to take a decongestant?  AVOID Benadryl type stuff. That dries it up and makes it thicker so longer to heal!

Can take up to three days to start working. Eat lots of yogurt and take probiotics.

+1

There is no need to anxiously wait for antibiotics to work. You'll be much better in couple of days.
