Ovarian Cancer fears are back...need advice
« on: February 03, 2014, 08:47:39 AM »
Hello all,

I hope you're having a good, stress free winter.  I was up until a couple days ago.  I have this recurring fear of Ovarian cancer and the fear went away for awhile, but now its back. I'm 22 years old and could stand to lose about 50 lbs.  I need advice, some reassurance.  I have my annual on March 10th, exactly one year after my last one.  I had a pelvic exam done last year and the gyno said everything looked/felt good.  But lately, I have been having random dull stomach pains.  Nothing too bad or unbearable, but it almost feels crampy.

I have PCOS, so my period is irregular and my diet yoyos.  For example, I could eat healthy for a few days and then start eating unhealthy again.  Could that be the cause?  Also, because I have PCOS, I feel that my chances of getting OC are much higher.  I only get my period a few times a year.

My breasts have been sore and I heard that its a symptom of OC.  I dont know what to think.  I've also been feeling like I have period cramps, so I gotta wonder if I'm getting my period.

Can someone offer some guidance? I hate worrying.

My mil had oc and she was sick--very sick--before diagnosis. Her stomach was distended to the point of looking pregnant, she had alternating diarrhea and constipation, vomiting, and fatigue. She figured it was the flu and the distension was from aging. But it just got worse very quickly. She had no clue it was oc but she did know something was terribly wrong.  She's a 3 year survivor of it now :)

Thanks for the response.  Yeah, I definitely dont feel that sick at all...just very mild stomach ache.  Also I just had a pelvic exam a year ago and my gyno said everything felt healthy.  Plus, I'm 22 so I know that my chances of getting it are smaller.

You pretty much explained it, so don't worry.  PCOS can account for all those symptoms and many more.

If you have PCOS, I would assume you would be looked at more often though.

I'm not sure to be honest.  I just know that since you have all those cysts that you probably need watched closely.

I've had lots of family members  that have had it and never had OC
