Advice on the right therapy????
« on: February 03, 2014, 08:46:19 AM »
Hi all

I need some info on what is the best and most efective therapy/book/audio book/whatever else to cure anxiety disorders (in my case, health anxiety).

I need to get well I am so sick of being unwell... I've hd this for 14 years and never had treatment so it's an exciting prospect that i could get well (with alot of commitment and hard work)

so far I've been recommended - Mood Gym - https://moodgym.anu.edu.au - Free CBT course online.

And also Claire Weekes Hope and Help for Your Nerves - Book

Anyone else got anything that works ?

Hello, I recommend reading thru this Comprehensive Article. It is not just about panic but all anxiety. It thoroughly goes over the disorder and all possible causes, etc
http://www.panic411.com/
I wish u luck. I had anxiety for as long I remember. But I had a major breakdown at age 44, eventually going into psychotic depression, due to not treating my anxiety. I went thru cognitive behavioral therapy, reg counseling, then a pdoc with meds prescribed. My best combo is Teva Clonazepam .5mg at night only, and now we've added 12.5mg Greenstone Sertraline also at night. Best for me, exercise, daily, sleeping/eating well.

Also, I have Mylan Mirtazapine to add at night, if I have too much on my mind. I only take a crumb off the 15mg pill. I only have to do this a couple of times a month.

I read Claire Week's Hope and Help for you Nerves.  Loved it.  It is a old book however I found it helped me a lot.
